Joseph Harvey’s Fiddle Was Left in The Rain part narrative, part one-man play, part song and music. The basic story includes original songs and recitations telling of Hon’s family’s emigration from Ireland and his own discovery of the importance of Irish traditional music in his own life.
The Influence of Irish and Scottish Fiddle Styles
Tim Sanphy of Kilrush will be presenting a comprehensive demonstration of the influence Irish and Scottish fiddle styles have made on contemporary North American fiddle playing. The fiddle workshop will include a basic understanding of bowing techniques, and rhythm styles as well as demonstrations of standard reels, jigs, sli[p jigs, Airs, waltzes, marches and strathspeys. Tim will entertain as well as inform and share North American styles influences by Cape Breton, Quebecois, Blue Grass and Old Time American traditions. Fiddlers/musicians are invited to bring their instruments for one on one and group participation.
