UTICA, NY – “In the spring a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of…” auctions?
From April 22-30, 2017, Watertown’s Public Broadcast Service (PBS) affiliate WPBS-DT will be conducting its 47th annual All Star Auction, held each spring to support the important mission and programs of the station.
This year’s All Star Auction – their largest fundraising event of the year – takes place over nine evenings, and bidders can call in their offers on hundreds of items, including admission tickets, travel/vacation packages, clothing, gym/spa memberships, a wide variety of lawn and garden items, and much more.
The auction airs from 6 PM to midnight on the weekends (Apr 22-23 and 29-30), and from 7 to midnight on weekdays (Apr 24-28). Their website wpbstv.org has an auction schedule and a new Buyers’ Guide that will assist the viewer in finding information as to the items that are scheduled to be up for bid any night of the auction.
As it has for several years, the Great American Irish Festival is supporting the fundraiser at the “Major” level; donating 9 pairs of weekend passes to the festival, which takes place from July 28-30. Viewers wishing to get first dibs on GAIF tickets – and perhaps at a discounted price – will get plenty of opportunities. WPBS will be auctioning off one pair of passes on each of the nine nights. WPBS station personnel reported that they are “pleased that GAIF has partnered again in this annual fundraiser,” noting that there were many bidders on last year’s GAIF ticket package.
